2024 Louisiana and Spuria Iris Conventions team up!

SLI is joining forces with the Spuria Iris Society and the Iris Society of Dallas to plan a unique convention experience for 2024. The bloom seasons of Louisianas and Spurias overlap in the Dallas area, offering the opportunity to see gardens featuring both beardless iris groups. Five gardens in the Dallas area will be on tour during the convention on Friday and Saturday, April 26-27.

Activities

Activities will kick off on Thursday, April 25, with registration and an evening hamburger cookout. With two organizations participating, the convention will be compact to accommodate the activities of each. It will be shorter than many conventions, and the Iris Society of Dallas has done an outstanding job of planning activities to keep participants’ costs reasonable.

The Winter Fleur de Lis convention write-up is also available as a PDF downloadable here. It contains more details and information on the five convention gardens on tour.

Location

The convention hotel will be the Fairfield Inn in Terrell, TX, east of Dallas.  As usual, you must make hotel reservations separately from convention registration. Contact information for the hotel is included on the Convention Registration Form, which you can download here as a PDF file.

The joint Louisiana-Spuria conventions will be a wonderful opportunity to meet new iris folks and learn about irises you may not be familiar with. Both Louisianas and Spurias are gorgeous and can be grown in most areas, although not under the same garden conditions. But with a little work, you can have both, and you will want to after the convention.
