In 2020, the Society for Louisiana Irises annual convention will return to New Orleans.  Mark your calendar for April 3-4.

The host will be the Greater New Orleans Iris Society, and a slightly shorter but iris-packed event is planned.  If you are craving a stroll into a Louisiana swamp to see wild irises (and other wildlife) up close, you will be accommodated, although it will be  from the safety of a boardwalk in the Town of Jean Lafitte.  The Town is 20 miles south of New Orleans, and this short, manageable boardwalk will keep you safe from critters but provide a view of the real thing.

Much tour-time will be spent in New Orleans City Park where there are extensive  displays of both species and cultivars.  A major new expansion of the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden has opened, and it is landscaped with Louisiana iris species.  The original portion features cultivars,.  There will be much to see in the New Orleans Botanical Garden, just across the street, where the annual Symposium will be held.

There will be a lot to see.  For a closer look, check out the Fleur de Lis article, link below, that provides more detail.
